  • Sierra Wireless Celebrates its 50 millionth wireless module

    In the fourth quarter of 2010, Sierra Wireless shipped its 50 millionth embedded wireless module. The milestone delivery rounded off an excellent year for the Sierra Wireless module business, with a number of new product introductions and a series of major customer wins. In 2010, Sierra Wireless became the world's number one wireless module vendor, with a 33% market share in the first half of the year.

  • New Sierra Wireless Aircards USB Modems

    Sierra Wireless today introduced the AirCard® 319U and the AirCard 320U, the two newest 4G USB modems in its AirCard product line. The AirCard 319U USB modem is the newest product in its lineup for Dual-Carrier HSPA+ networks. Scheduled to launch on the TELUS network in Canada in March, the AirCard 319U USB offers download speeds of up to 42 megabits per second (Mbps) and upload speeds of up to 5.76 Mbps. It also features an innovative swivel hinge design that allows the body of the modem to be tucked up against the side of the notebook and protects it from being damaged by accidental bumps, for easier and safer use in tight spaces like commuter trains and crowded cafes.
    The AirCard 320U is Sierra Wireless' first in a family of USB modems for LTE networks, offering download speeds of up to 100 Mbps and upload speeds up to 50 Mbps.

  • Sierra Wireless Announces Two New 4G Mobile Hotspots

    Sierra Wireless today introduced two new 4G mobile hotspots to its line of AirCard® Mobile Broadband Devices. Designed to take advantage of high-speed mobile broadband connectivity offered by new 4G networks, the AirCard 753S and AirCard 754S Mobile Hotspots connect up to five Wi-Fi enabled devices simultaneously to the internet over Dual-Carrier HSPA+ and LTE networks, respectively. Both products are scheduled for commercial shipments in the second quarter of this year.

  • Vineyards Monitoried with Airlink Raven X

    “We can get solid cellular connectivity pretty much anywhere, which is not the case with WiFi,” explained Peter Tsepeleff, founder, president & CEO of Grape Networks. “Satellite is significantly more expensive, making cellular the best option in regard to both cost and coverage.”
    Beringer Vineyards is currently using 15 Climate Genie nodes throughout 20 acres of its Merlot block. A single AirLink Raven X is able to provide an Internet uplink for up to 50 nodes and cover from 100 – 200 acres of vineyard.

  • Stirling Panels Adopts Wireless Technology for MTN Remote Generator Monitoring Solution

    Stirling Panels cc., a local control panel manufacturer, who manufactures automatic mains / generator change-over panels (AMF panels) has developed a remote generator monitoring solution based on wireless communications and the RGK generator interface, a fully visual interface showing the dials and screens for the remote generator. The solution has already been successfully rolled out for MTN in South Africa.
